“Dekha Ek Khwaab To Yeh Silsile Hue
Door Tak Nigahon Mein Hain Gul Khile Hue”
Decorating the atmosphere with lovely bollywood songs on a bright fresh morning, we the fifteen Indian students on holidays in Amsterdam left for The Keukenhof Gardens !! Famed all over the Globe for its uniqueness, beauty and vastness (it is the world’s largest flower garden), this mesmerizing place is a pride of South Holland. They say it covers an area of 32 hectares with 4.5 million tulips in more than 100 varieties and has 15 kilometer long footpath. And yeah – they even boost about more than 44 million visitors in the last 60 years. Inspired by the facts and the figures, and not to forget the beautiful google pictures – we all left for our destination for the day – Lisse of Netherlands!
It is a pity that Achintya, Sumir and Ankit missed the bus and had to catch the next one… they will never know how lovely and lively the bus ride was with all the Antakshri songs – special thanks to Veena and Upasana for that!! 🙂 Anyways, after getting reunited in front of Keukenhof, we stepped into the paradise on earth – varieties of tulips in different shades of different colours – some of them stretched for long in the garden, making those captivating tulip carpets – a few others planted in small groups inside the green house showcasing the vast collection of different tulips – everything just so perfect and pretty!! It indeed was a delight for the budding photographers in us – Pawan and Tanmoy – you should have seen the excitement in their eyes!! And of course it was pleasure to pose for them – the beautiful girls Himpriya, Priyanka, Avani and Heena took nice use of the lovely backgrounds and got for themselves a huge collection of facebook profile pics which will no doubt last for the whole year!! :p Well, actually, all of us did 😉
We walked through the long footpaths surrounded by flowers of all the colours you have possibly ever heard of, climbed up the windmill to have a nicer view of the tulip carpets, tried wearing those big wooden Holland-shoes, tried some zoomed photography with whatever camers we had, ran like crazy through the confusing tree-maze in little groups – competing to reach the center first (with ammazing people like Vinty and Kunde in the group, fun comes free everyday) …
It was a stunning experience – not to be forgotten by any of us ever!! Here are few more pics clicked on that marvelous day – 🙂 enjoy 🙂 and get inspired to visit Amsterdam at least once in the Tulip Season – it is simply awesome!!
