V838 Monocerotis is one of the largest stars known and is situated at the outer edge of the Milky Way galaxy. Clicked by Hubble on February 8, 2004 – this image gives a view of an expanding halo of light around the red variable star, which illuminates the interstellar dust surrounding it and the illuminated dusty cloud expands while revealing some remarkable structures.
